Filter Feast Part 2

Filter Feast Part 2
Positive Energy

This two part interview on air filtration, air filters and filter media with Mark Davidson from Camfil covers a range of topics, from basic to advanced. Topics include the basics of particulate capture, the tradeoffs between filtration efficiency, clean air delivery rate, and energy use, filter media types, and electret degradation.  If you want to learn about the role of filtration in delivering clean indoor air for your self, or if your role in society has agency in making sure your clients are breathing healthy air, you will appreciate what you learn here. Mark is a filter nerd with the ability to break things down and communicate clearly.

Mark Davidson

Mark is the Manager of Technical Marketing which includes responsibility for writing and editing articles for Camfil’s popular Clean Air Blog and participating in ASHRAE committees including 170 for healthcare facilities. Prior to that role, Mark was the Food and Beverage Segment Manager for Camfil USA with overall responsibility for growing market share in food or beverage production facilities located throughout the United States.

His 25-year background in industrial food processing and healthcare facilities gives Mark the understanding required to select the air filtration solution that provides the appropriate level of indoor air quality while tackling the high cost of energy, fewer maintenance staff, and a growing shortage of landfill space. Food processing plants and healthcare facilities have a surprising number of common challenges and a more technical filtration solution strikes the right balance between energy cost, and service life longevity while maximizing an HVAC system’s airflow capabilities.
