The Big Idea

Westview Residence transforms a demanding landscape into the source of its architectural character. Alterstudio's brick volumes thread between heritage oaks and across a wet-weather creek, preserving the site's wildness while creating an intimate family retreat. Positive Energy's MEP engineering supports the home's floating rooms and expansive connections to nature with systems coordinated for reliable comfort, healthy indoor air, and quiet performance. The engineering recedes into the architecture so the experience remains focused on filtered light, trees, water, and the striking sensation of inhabiting the landscape rather than simply looking at it.

Photography Credits

Great residential MEP work for world-class architecture is rarely seen because all of our coordination disappears behind walls and into refined details, and it simply works as intended. Casey Dunn's photographs brilliantly capture the spirit of this home and remind us that what we create is beautiful because it is the sum of so many parts joined into a whole. Please visit Casey's site for more beautiful work.
